Who Can Participate in ASI Intramural Sports?
|
Students with valid Cal Poly ID, are eligible to participate.
Faculty/Staff are eligible to participate in Intramural Sports if they have purchased a Recreation Center membership.
Alumni can participate in Intramural Sports if they have a current Recreation Center membership. Alumni must also show proof of medical insurance to the on-site Supervisor.
Spouses are eligible to participate in Intramural Sports if they have a current Recreation Center membership.
Club Sport Athletes may participate in the sport in which they compete, but must participate (in their respective sport) at the highest level offered (Division I). A team may have as many sport club athletes on the team roster, but the team may field no more than two sport club athletes at a time. A participant who appears on a club sports roster at any time during the academic year will be considered a club player for the remainder of that academic year, for the sport similar to their Cal Poly club sport.

How Do I Register?
|
All participants are required to complete payment of a pass before creating or joining any teams. Passes can be purchased in advance of registration opening times; which is encouraged to help speed up the registration process.
- Player Pass ($25): A one-time purchase that allows a participant to join or create any number of teams throughout the quarter for Intramural Sports leagues or tournaments.
- Tournament Pass ($10): A one-time purchase that allows a participant to play in a single tournament during the quarter.
To purchase a pass, select "My Payments" link underneath your name, and follow by selecting "My Pay Packages" for the payment screen. If passes are not purchased in advance, IMLeagues will prompt participants to make the payment when attempting to register or join a team.
Visit the ASI website for a step-by-step of how to get you or your team ready to play.

What Divisions Are Available?
|
Open Division I – Competitive: Participants in this league have most likely previously participated in organized competition for a high school or club/travel team. The skill level and the level of competition is high. This is the only division for which a recreational option is not available.
Open Division II – Competitive: The competition level of these leagues is described as “moderate.” These leagues are appropriate for players who have experience in the sport and would like to participate in a competitive atmosphere but may not possess the technical skill or experience that is needed to enjoy Division I.
Open Division II – Recreational: Participants in this league likely have experience in the sport, but are looking to participate in a fun, relaxed environment. The skill level is still moderate, but the competitive atmosphere is minimal.
Open Division III – Competitive: These leagues are designed for participants who do not have much experience in the sport but would still like to participate in a competitive atmosphere.
Open Division III – Recreational: These leagues are designed for participants to have fun in a relaxed environment. No prior experience in the sport is necessary to participate in these leagues.

Can I Play On More Than One Team?
|
Participants may participate on one team per league per sport. This means that a participant may only play on one Competitive team and one Recreational team, regardless of division. IFC & Panhellenic teams are considered their own respective league. If a league does not fill due to an insufficient number of teams or is not offered, the participant will be allowed to play on two teams in the same league, so long as they are in in separate divisions. This is the only time a participant may play in multiple divisions within a sport (e.g., Open Division I – Competitive and Open Division II – Competitive or Open Division II - Recreational and Open Division III – Recreational). Participants may only participate on a maximum of two teams per sport.

What Happens if I Cannot Make My Scheduled Game?
|
Reschedules may be requested when a team cannot meet its normally scheduled time. The manager requesting the reschedule MUST contact the appropriate Sports Supervisor at least 72 hours prior to their scheduled game. If the reschedule request is made between 72-24 hours prior to game time, the appropriate Sports Supervisor will do their best to offer a reschedule but it is not guaranteed. Any reschedule requests made 24 hours or closer to game time will result in a forfeit and fee. All reschedule requests will be considered on a first come, first serve basis. Once a team manager has requested a reschedule, the opposing manager has the option to accept or decline the request. If the opposing manager accepts the request, The IM Sports Supervisor will provide a maximum of two alternative times for reschedules. If the opposing manager declines the request or the newly requested time, the rescheduling team has the option to meet its originally scheduled game time or take an automatic loss.
Intramural Sports reserves the right to refuse reschedules based on availability of facilities, officials or weather conditions.

What Is a Default?
|
A default can be requested to the appropriate Sports Supervisor. The default must be submitted via email by 3pm of the scheduled game day. A default can be taken when a reschedule is not available. A default does not result in a 3 sportsmanship rating and is not subject to a forfeit fee.

What Happens if My Team Receives a 1 Sportsmanship Rating?
|
If a team receives a “1” sportsmanship rating, the team manager will be required to meet with the Intramural Sports Coordinator and/or Student Manager for Intramural Sports prior to participating in their next scheduled game. If the team manager does not arrange this meeting by the team’s next game, then that game will be forfeited. Once a team receives a “1” sportsmanship rating they are placed on probation for the rest of the quarter. A second “1” rating in one intramural season for a team will result in the forfeiture of all remaining games and playoffs.
Teams receiving a “1” rating during playoffs are immediately eliminated. If the winning team receives a “1” sportsmanship rating, the losing team will move on in the winners place.
