How do I organize a team?
|
Get together with a group of friends, roommates, or colleagues and pick a member of the team to be the captain. The captain will create a team in IM Leagues and invite their teammates to the team. Registration dates and sport offerings can be found on the "Sports" page of IMLeagues.

How many sports can I participate in?
|
Participants can play in all of the offered sports if they desire. Most teams do not practice in intramural sports and the games do not last more than one hour. Participants are limited to participating on one single-gendered team per sport and one mixed-gender team per sport.

How, where, and when do I register my team?
|
The designated captain can begin building their team on the Waitlist one week prior to the registration period opening.
The captain will select the sport they want to register a team for and then select the appropriate league within that sport.
Select “create team” and complete the mandatory captain’s quiz with 100% accuracy.
Read through the waiver and captain instructions.
Select an appropriate team name, logo, and list a phone number for the captain.
Invite team members to your team and meet the minimum number of players required in order to register in a division.
After reaching the minimum number of players, move to a division that best fits your team’s availability.
Go to the team page, to complete any other details for your team and view your schedule once it is published.
Residence hall teams must email imsports@purdue.edu to notify the Intramural Sports Staff of their affiliation to a Residence Hall and finalize any billing details.

What’s the time commitment? How long is the season? How many guaranteed games?
|
All leagues are either 3, 4, or 5 week regular seasons followed by a single elimination playoff. With our instant scheduling format, teams play all their regular season games on the same day & time selected during the registration period unless they choose to reschedule during the season. Games are played in an hour or less. All teams will make the playoffs provided they maintain a 2.75 or higher average sporting behavior rating and they do not forfeit more than two games. Regular season games cancelled due to weather might not be rescheduled.

Who is eligible to participate?
|
Only those who have purchased their Semester or Annual IM Pass are eligible to play Intramural Sports. Anyone with a Recreation & Wellness (RecWell) Membership that is at least a semester long, with are eligible to purchase an IM Pass. Anyone with a Recreation & Wellness Membership that is at least a semester long are eligible to purchase an IM Pass. Full-time students that have been assessed the fitness & wellness fee to their student fees automatically obtain a RecWell membership. Faculty or alumni that purchase a RecWell Membership are eligible to participate in Intramural Sports. Any participant who is/was a member of a varsity squad at Purdue, or any other college or university, is thereafter ineligible for intramural competition in that sport, or similar sport, for a period of two full academic terms.

I don’t have a team, what are my options?
|
Free agents should log-in to IM Leagues and select “join as a Free Agent” or select “join a team” and request to join teams that are looking for team members. Free agents can also use our Facebook page “Purdue University Intramural Sports” to create a post that describe their desired sport, his/her program group eligibility, and their appropriate skill level. Captains can also post if they are looking for players or can comment on other posts to pick up players.

What is the difference between black vs. gold divisions?
|
The black divisions are our most competitive divisions for participants looking to
participate against the highest level of competition. The gold divisions are intended for
teams that are not as experienced or lesser skilled than the black division and are
looking for a recreational environment.

Are we required to purchase our own uniforms?
|
Teams will be required to wear matching colored uniforms or shirts in intramural Flag Football, Soccer, Basketball, and Ultimate Frisbee. Basketball uniforms will also be required to have two-digit whole numbers from 00-99. Uniforms may not have taped numbers. For all other sports it is as simple as coordinating the same colored tshirt. Teams failing to arrive on-site with matching uniforms for specified sports will forfeit that game.

How do I add players to my team?
|
Captains can add players to their team by utilizing the “invite members” on their team page and send a request to their teammates. Every participant must have an active IM Pass to join a team. All players must be on the team roster prior to checking in on site with the Intramural Supervisor.

Several members of our team have an exam during our scheduled game time
|
You may reschedule your game by utilizing the online rescheduling feature within IM
Leagues. The captain will select “reschedule/cancel” game next to their schedule on
their team page. They will submit a request to their opponent and the opponent will
have the option to approve or deny. It is recommended to communicate with the
captain in advance to find a common time to reschedule. Approval by both captains
must be submitted by 3pm for games played or reschedule to Monday – Thursday and
10am for games played or rescheduled to Sunday. It is responsibility of both captains to
ensure a rescheduled request is approved or denied.

What if we cannot successfully agree on a rescheduling option?
|
If you and your opponent’s captain cannot agree on a new time to play, we recommend
cancelling the game. The captain can cancel the game by selecting “reschedule/cancel”
next to their schedule on their team page. A request to cancel must be sent by 3pm for
games played on Monday – Thursday and by 10am for games played on Sunday. An
intramural administrator will approve or deny the request. It is the responsibility of the
captain submitting the request to ensure the game was officially canceled.

What is the penalty for not showing up to my game? What is the penalty for showing up late?
|
The penalty for not showing up to your game at all is the same as being 1 minute late to your game. Game time is forfeit time. Team captains are charged a $25 forfeit fee for the first forfeit, and a team's second forfeit results in their removal from the league.

My regular season game was cancelled due to lightning or poor playing conditions
|
Inclement weather affects programming of outdoor sports. These unforeseen
circumstances unfortunately will not be rescheduled do
Unsafe weather conditions are an unfortunate circumstance of operating sports outside.
Due to limited facility space we do not reschedule regular season games that are
cancelled due to weather. For up to date information regarding weather related
cancellations, please reference our weather hotline at: (765) 494-3131.

What do I need to bring with me to the fields?
|
Your Purdue ID or governmental picture ID is required for every intramural contest in
order to check-in to participate. Required and provided equipment is listed in each of
the sport specific rules in the equipment section.

I was ejected from an Intramural Sports game. What happens now?
|
Ejected players must meet with the proper administrative staff member before s/he is
permitted to participate in future Intramural Sports contests. Ejected players are
prohibited from participating in any Intramural Sports contests until they have had their
reinstatement meeting and served any sanctions that may be assessed.
