What's the best option for me: the Player Pass or the Team Pass?

If you are looking to play on more than 1 team during the academic year, go with the Player Pass.  The Player Pass is $60 allows you to play on as many teams as you are eligible for that academic year.

Just looking to play on one team (ex. Winter Quarter Co-Rec Broomball) during the year?  Go with the Team Pass.  It's $35 and gets you access to one team.

I created a team, but it shows up on the Waitlist. Why?

For most of our leagues, we require teams to meet a roster minimum in order to officially join a league.  This is to reduce the percentage of teams who never have enough players to play and end up forfeiting out of the league.  Once you meet the roster minimum and any gender requirements (Co-Rec leagues), you will be automatically moved into the league.

**Make sure you meet the roster minimums before registration closes or else your team may be left out of the league completely!

What are the different league types and who is eligible for each one?

Participants are eligible to participate in one single-gendered/open league and one Co-Rec league for each sport.

Co-Rec - open to males and females and there is a set number of each gender that must be present, based on the sport.

Open - open to any gender, but there is no set number of either gender that must be present.  A team can be all males, all females, or anything in between.

Men's - open to males only.  This is offered when a Women's league is also offered.

Women's - open to females only.  Should a Women's league not be offered or does not fill, females are welcome to join a Men's team (which will turn that Men's league into an Open league)

Can I play on more than one team in the same league?

No. Participants are only eligible to play on one Open team and one Co-Rec team per sport.

Example: Soccer has A and B leagues for Open.  A participant can only play in one of those teams for 1 team.  He/she cannot play on teams in both leagues.

The league I want to play has A and B divisions available. How do I know what's best for my team?

"B" divisions are for teams that have a few players are newer to the sport and/or have limited experience with that sport.

"A" teams primarily consist of members who have played the sport before and are comfortable playing the sport at a higher level.  "A" are the only teams eligible to be in the Gold playoff bracket, which plays for Intramural Championship Shirts.

What is the Grace Period policy?

We understand that something may come up last second and your team needs a couple extra minutes to field enough players to avoid a forfeit.  If a team is short of players to start their game, we will allot an extra 5 minutes for that team to get enough players.  Should they not be able to get enough players ready to play by then, then it's a forfeit.  Should the team reach its minimum number of players within that 5 minute grace period, then the game will start BUT the team who showed up on time will receive a small goal/point advantage to start the game.  If both teams need to use the grace period, then neither team will get a goal/point advantage.

We encourage ALL players to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time to leave time to get checked in and ready to go.  Parking can be difficult and walking to venues such as Joy Burns Arena and Hamilton Gymnasium can take an extra few minutes.

Is my team registered?

Only when you have completed the registration process. For more information on how to register your team go to the University of Denver's IMLeagues homepage for registration instructions.

You can also check the league's main page to see a list of teams registered.

Will you hold a space for my team if I have not created a team online?

No. Only completed teams who have completed the entire registration process will be approved.

If my team receives a forfeit, are we still eligible for playoffs?

Yes, but your team's sportsmanship grade for that game will be a 1. You need a 3 sportsmanship average to make the playoffs, and a 1 significantly hurts these chances.

If my team receives a default, are we still eligible for playoffs?

Yes. Since you took the time to let the Student Programs Manger know and we were able to contact the other team and staff to let them know of the default, you will receive a loss, however you are still eligible for playoffs. Your team's sportsmanship grade for that game will be a 2. You need a 3 sportsmanship average to make the playoffs, and a 2 significantly hurts these chances.

Do you need to have played in a regular season game to participate in playoffs?

No, but you need to be on the team's roster online prior to the end of the league's regular season.  On the main IMLeagues page, the deadline is posted for each league.

If my team qualifies for playoffs, how does playoff scheduling work?

All teams that qualify for playoffs will be placed into a bracket.  Depending on the size of the league, one to three brackets will be created.  Teams are ranked based on record (with sportsmanship being the first tiebreaker).  The highest level is Gold, in which winners of this bracket will receive IM Championship shirts.  Should a second bracket be needed, it will be called Crimson (and a third bracket would be called White).  Winners of brackets outside of Gold will receive an Intramural Sports T-Shirt.

Sometimes we have inclement weather and need to reschedule playoff games, so keep in mind that we might have to move games onto a different night in order to finish the season.  Make sure to have extra players on your roster if you are an outdoor sport!

Why does Intramural Sports charge a forfeit fee?

The forfeit fee serves two main purposes.  The first one is to offset the cost of supervisors, officials, and other staff for their paid time.  By defaulting a game in advance, we are able to adjust staff schedules to avoid as much "dead time" as possible.  The second purpose is to hold teams accountable for showing up, as your opponents took time our of their day to come out and play against your team.  No one likes to show up and not play!
