1) Who is elgible for the Student Wellness Program?

Student Wellness is available and open to all GPRC full and part-time students attending courses during the academic year between September 1 to April 30; including Spring & Summer time courses (May 1 to June 30).

GPRC students who are also eligible to the Program are;

  • TEN Students (Teacher Education North)
  • 3rd & 4th Year Nursing Students
  • Apprenticeship Students attending either Grande Prairie or Fairview Campuses
  • Staff members enrolled in courses at the GPRC GP Campus; must possess a valid Student ID Card & Number

Can my friend or relative come to the fitness class with me even if they’re not a GPRC Student?

Yes, GPRC's Fitness Classes are open to Students, Staff and Community Members. However, there is a required registration process for all participants and only students receive Free access to classes upon registering.  For the precise cost breakdown go to the main Fitness Class webpage

2) How much does it cost?

IT’S FREE!! As long as you’re a current registered GPRC Student with a valid Student ID Card, you get access to this fantastic opportunity. SW initiatives are FREE of charge unless otherwise stated.

  1. FREE access to the GPRC Fitness Centre Weight Room
  2. FREE access to the GPRC Gymnasium when Open Gym Time
  3. FREE access to the GPRC Fitness Centre Climbing Gym Rock Wall
    1. Including FREE Belay Certification
  4. FREE entry into Community Hour Events
  5. FREE entry into all Fitness Classes upon Registration
  6. FREE access to Nutritional Seminars, Stress Management and other Informational Sessions
  7. FREE access to Student Wellness Special Events and Activities
    • All of the above are free of charge, unless otherwise stated
  8. DISCOUNTED entry to Special Courses, Tournaments or other activities, Drop - In and Punch Passes

4) Where do the SW Fitness Classes take place?

M121 Fitness Studio just down the hall from the Fitness Centre Main Desk; in M Wing & the Gymnasium (unless otherwise stated)

5) How do I get a membership card for the FREE access to Student Wellness programs (How do I sign up)?

All students will receive an official GPRC Student ID Card once you have confirmed your registration at the College. The good people in Student Services will take a lovely picture of yourself and give you a Student ID number. You will then take this card to the Fitness Centre Main Desk in J Wing where the staff will activate your card so that you are signed up as a Fitness Centre member. After that, your card will grant you access to these fine activity facilities. (Your GPRC ID Card MUST be with you for all Student Wellness activities & programs)

For special classes, seminars and intramurals, there will be registration forms available at the Fitness Centre Main Desk.

6) Why does GPRC Student Wellness exist? (Vision, Mission, Philosophy)

Vision: 1) To enhance the lives of GPRC’s students through Recreation and knowledge-based opportunities, highlighting the importance of maintaining all forms of human wellness, both during and after their post-secondary graduation.

Mission: GPRC Student Wellness believes in enhancing campus life by experiencing opportunities through Healthy & Active Living, and promoting the overall well-being of the Body & Mind!

Goals & Objectives:

  • Increase student involvement in physical activity
  • Increase awareness of opportunities for physical activity
  • Students choosing to become more active on campus
  • Enhancing student life on campus by providing numerous experiences

7) When are the Student Wellness programs available to students?
  • Fall Semester: September 1st – December 23rd
  • Winter Semester: December 27th – April 30th
  • Spring/Summer Semester: May 1st – June 30th
    • Only registered Spring/Summer semester GPRC students enrolled in courses are eligible during this timeframe

  • If you’re currently enrolled in PEAK, become a member of SPEAK (Students of Physical Education And Kinesiology) and get coordinating with your fellow classmates
  • Asking about the Intramural Assistant position – See the Job & Volunteer Opportunities SW webpage
  • Become a Campus Recreation Ambassador and gain valuable volunteer work experience
