How do I organize a team?
|
Get together with a group of friends, roommates, or colleagues and pick a member of the team to be the captain. The captain will create a team in IM Leagues and invite their teammates to the team. Registration dates and sport offerings can be found on the "Sports" page of IMLeagues. All members must first have an IM Pass (purchase at recwell.purdue.edu) to join a team.

How, where, and when do I register my team?
|
The designated captain can begin building their team on the Waitlist one week prior to the registration period opening.
The captain will select the sport they want to register a team for and then select the appropriate league within that sport.
Select “create team” and complete the mandatory captain’s quiz with 100% accuracy.
Read through the waiver and captain instructions.
Select an appropriate team name, logo, and list a phone number for the captain.
Invite team members to your team and meet the minimum number of players required in order to register in a division.
After reaching the minimum number of players, move to a division that best fits your team’s availability.
Go to the team page, to complete any other details for your team and view your schedule once it is published.

What’s the time commitment? How long is the season? How many guaranteed games?
|
All leagues are either 3, 4, or 5 week regular seasons followed by a single elimination playoff. With our instant scheduling format, teams play all their regular season games on the same day & time selected during the registration period unless they choose to reschedule during the season. Games are played in an hour or less. All teams will make the playoffs provided they maintain a 2.75 or higher average sporting behavior rating and they do not forfeit more than two games. Regular season games cancelled due to weather might not be rescheduled.
Almost all tournaments consist of a group stage followed by a single elimination tournament of each group's winner (commonly called Champion of Champions format). At least 2 games are guaranteed for each team, provided no teams forfeit.

I don’t have a team, what are my options?
|
Free agents should log-in to IMLeagues and select “join as a Free Agent” or select “join a team” and request to join teams that are looking for team members. Captains can indicate whether their team is seeking Free Agents to join their team.

What is the difference between Gold and Silver Leagues?
|
The Gold League is our most competitive league for participants looking to
participate against higher skilled/competitive opponents. The Silver League is intended for
teams that are not as experienced or lesser skilled than the Gold League and are
looking for a recreational environment.

Are we required to purchase our own uniforms?
|
Teams will be required to provide their own matching colored uniforms or shirts for sports that require teams to be in a matching color. This includes having colors that are the same shade. We recommend avoiding colors like blue, red, orange, gray, and green as there are many variations/shades of those colors.
Basketball uniforms will also be required to have whole numbers from 00-99. Uniforms may not have taped numbers. For all other sports it is as simple as coordinating the same colored t-shirt. Teams failing to arrive on-site with matching uniforms for specified sports will forfeit that game.

Several members of our team have an exam during our scheduled game time, what should we do?
|
You may reschedule your game by utilizing the online rescheduling feature within IMLeagues. The captain will select “reschedule/cancel” game next to their schedule on their team page. They will submit a request to their opponent and the opponent will have the option to approve or deny (cancellations do not require opponent approval).
It is recommended to communicate with the captain in advance to find a common time to reschedule. Approval by both captains must be submitted by 3pm for games played or rescheduled to Monday – Thursday and 10am for games played or rescheduled to Sunday. It is responsibility of both captains to ensure a rescheduled request is approved or denied.

What if we cannot successfully agree on a rescheduling option?
|
If you and your opponent’s captain cannot agree on a new time to play, we recommend cancelling the game. The captain can cancel the game by selecting “reschedule/cancel” next to their schedule on their team page. A request to cancel must be sent by 3pm for games played on Monday – Thursday and by 10am for games played on Sunday. An intramural administrator will approve or deny the request. It is the responsibility of the captain submitting the request to ensure the game was officially canceled.

What is the penalty for not showing up to my game? What is the penalty for showing up late?
|
Game time is forfeit time. The penalty for not showing up to your game at all is the same as being 1 minute late to your game. Teams that forfeit lose 0-1 and receive a 2 for Sporting Behavior Rating. Teams that forfeit twice in one season will be removed from that league.

What if inclement weather or poor playing conditions cause my game to be cancelled?
|
Inclement weather conditions are an unfortunate circumstance of operating sports outside. Due to limited facility space, we do not reschedule regular season games that are cancelled due to inclement weather. If a game has reached the "official" point, as indicated in its rules, it can be considered complete with the score accepted as it stands when cancelled. If a game has not reached the "official" point, it will be considered a default with no score awarded to either team. Playoff games will be rescheduled by the Intramural Office.
For up to date information regarding weather related cancellations, please reference our weather hotline at: (765) 494-3131.

Certain equipment, like balls, may be provided by the Intramural Staff, but other items may need to be brought by the participant or rented from the RecWell Equipment Center located on Level 1 of the CoRec.

I was ejected from an Intramural Sports game. What happens now?
|
Ejected players must meet with the proper administrative staff member before they are permitted to participate in future Intramural Sports contests. Ejected players are prohibited from participating in any Intramural Sports contests until they have had their reinstatement meeting and served any sanctions that may be assessed.
