I am an individual who wants to register for a team sport, but do not have a team, what should I do?

For each of our team sports we allow participants to register as a Free Agent. To do this you simply go through the registration process, select the team Free Agent and type in the Password Radford and the current year with no space in between. (i.e. Radford2014) At the end of registration, we take all the individuals who have registered as a Free Agent and put them on teams together, or if there aren't enough individuals to field a full team, we will contact team captains within that sport to find teams for the individuals.

How do I become a Group X Instructor?

STEP 1

Take some classes and determine which formats you are most interested in teaching. We offer a variety of classes including Cycle, BODYPUMP, Highlander Cycle, Yoga, Cardio Kickboxing, Boot Camp, 30 Minute Core, and many more. We are also always open to any new formats!

STEP 2

Email Abbie Meier, ameier6@radford.edu, to start the shadowing process! All interested students are asked to shadow a current instructor for a semester to get comfortable with teaching, choreography, and technical matters.

The Radford FitWell team also offers several workshops throughout the semester that are often free and open to all students. Please check the Radford Red app or our IG @RadfordRec for any upcoming workshops.

STEP 3

Apply online! Applicants must have a current fitness certification, previous experience teaching classes, completion of an approved fitness workshop, or complete a semester in our shadowing process. If you are interested or would like to know more information, please contact Abbie Meier at ameier6@radford.edu.

STEP 4

Set up an audition! After submitting your application, someone will contact you to set up an audition. Please prepare a 30-minute demo of your class including a warm-up, cool down, and safe and effective exercises. Applicants will be evaluated based on their preparation, exercise selection, technique/form, cueing/coaching, interactions, and personality! Auditions are open to any Radford University students.
