My team isn't going to have enough players for tonights game, what are my options?

Good News! We have now introduced a 'Same Day Free Agent' Policy. Players who are not registered to a roster are able to participate in a sport provided the following:

1. They meet all the eligibility requirements of an intramural participant with regard to student status, varsity status, and participation level.

2. They have filled out the Same Day Free Agent waiver at: ()

3. They show this waiver, along with their student ID to the activity supervisor at the field prior to the beginning of gameplay.

This policy was introduced to prevent defaults/forfeits and promote inclusion in the various sports that Queens A&R provides! Please make the most of it and enjoy your participation.

What's the difference between "Open", "Mixed", and "Women's" leagues?

Mixed leagues = Requires teams to have to have a minimum # of men/women in the game at all times.  For example, Mixed Volleyball requires teams to have 2 women and 2 men on the court at all times. Minimum requirements for each sport can be seen under each of the leagues individual rule books.

Open leagues = There are no men/women related requirements. NOTE:  The majority of teams in an Open division are comprised by participants that play-as men.

Women's leagues = For teams that are comprised entirely by partcipants that play-as women.

Note: When using "Men" & "Women", we are only referring to what a participant has chosen to play-as

What is the difference between Fun, Recreational and Competitive?

All Intramural leagues are based on a 'fun-for-all' principal, where the overriding goal should be one's enjoyment and respect of the sport.

Competitive divisions offer the highest level of competition and skill.  Players/teams signing up for a competitive have usually played the sport at a high level such as rep, varsity, select, etc.

Recreational divisions offer a moderate level of competition and skill. Players/teams signing up for recreational have usually played the sport at a highschool level and/or for a long-period of time in the past.

Fun divisions are offer a low level of experience and skill in a sport,. Players/Teams signing up for fun have either not played the sport before or have played the sport for leisure but have more room to learn and improve.

The league I want to play in is full. Will more spots be added?

Once leagues are full, we monitor waitlists to see what has a high demand. In order to add more spots, we would need to acquire more gym time/space which can be difficult since the ARC is used for many other programs. If our requests for more gym/time/space cannot be accommodated, we will not be able to add more spots.

In a scenario where no spots can be added; your team would have to:

  1. Wait for another team to drop out of the league
  2. Be first on the waitlist for the league

Also, try reaching out to other teams to see if they are looking for additional players! It's a great way to get involved and meet new people!

How do I know my Waitlist Ranking ?

Your waitlist ranking is based on the date/time your team met the minimum player requirements for the league on your roster. If you want your exact ranking, email the intramural coordinator at intramurals@queensu.ca

Example: Team Q : met the player requiremet on Sept.5th at 12:05 pm while Team B met the player requirement on Sept.5th at 1:00 pm. This means Team Q ranks higher on the waitlist than Team B.

The minimum requirement depends on the sport and can viewed in the "League Details" box on the home page of the sport.

How many games do I have to play in to be eligible for the playoffs?

Individuals must play in "50%-less-one" league games to be eligible for the playoffs.

  • 8 game season, 3 games required
  • 6 game season, 2 games required
  • 5 game season, 2 games required
  • 3 game season, 1 game required

Attendance is tracked solely from the game sheet. It is important for players/captains to ensure the game sheet is accurate at the conclusion of the game.  Players who missed being checked off will not be given credit retroactively for attending. If a player, who had been on the roster at the beginning of the season, missed games due to medical reasons. They must provide medical documentation to the intramural coordinator (intramurals@queensu.ca) that covers the dates in question.

I paid my default fine but I still cannot join/create teams on imleagues

Once you have paid your fine,  please remember to send your receipt to intramurals@queensu.ca because  the intramural coordinator does not get notified when you make a payment and must do things manually since the two websites (get active and imleagues) are not connected.

Once your payment is verified by the intramural coordinator, your team will be unsuspended / playoff eligible.
