What is a default?
|
|
A default is a way of alleviating a forfeit. Teams will receive a default if they:
* Show up, ready to play, but after scheduled game time. GAME TIME IS DEFAULT TIME!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!

* Cannot make a scheduled game (a loss by default will not be recorded if proper notification has been given in advance to the Intramural Office). Otherwise the scheduled game is a forfeit.
* If, during the play of a game, a team (regardless if the team is winning or losing) falls below the minimum amount of players needed to continue (due to injuries, ejection, etc), the team will default the match.
* Teams with insufficient rosters or ineligible players.
* Three defaults by the same team in one season will result in the removal from the scheduled league!

Can I reschedule games?
|
|
The Intramural Staff is unable to reschedule games. During both the regular season and playoffs, facility schedules and staffing issues make it nearly impossible to reschedule games at participants' requests. Team captains must check with their teammates about possible conflicts before signing up for a league. Teams that qualify for playoffs must be prepared to play on nights and times other than those played during the regular season.
The Intramural Staff will do anything it can to work around your team's schedules so that each participant has the opportunity o participate. However, it is not guaranteed that your team will play every game at their requested time. We want you to have fun and be able to participate, and we realize that college schedules may conflict with the scheduling of your team. Please be prepared to indicate the best possible time for your team to participate, but keep in mind it is not a guarantee.

Are there postponements or rainouts?
|
|
As a general rule, games will be played rain or shine. Only in in the case of unsafe playing conditions (i.e. lightening, heavy snowfall, large amounts of standing water, extremely cold weather) will games be postponed and/or cancelled.
Games postponed due to unsafe playing conditions will not be automatically rescheduled by the Intramural Office. However, in the case of a tie-breaker game, or playoff game, these will be rescheduled.
Intramurals will generally play scheduled games UNLESS the Intramural Office specifically states they have been postponed or cancelled. We recommend that you call the office 30 minutes prior to your scheduled game if you are still unsure about playing conditions.

Can I protest games?
|
|
Protests based solely on a decision which involves an accuracy of judgment call on the part of an official will not be considered.
* For Example: A team cannot protest whether a goal should be awarded or not.
Protests based on the interpretation of a rule, and the application can be protested by the team captain.
* For Example: If one team feels that the other team has an ineligible player, this can be protested.
o Only the designated team captain may file a protest.
o Arguing about a call does not constitute filing a protest.
The team captain must file his/her formal protest with the game Official(s) immediately following the questionable interpretation (prior to the next pitch, serve, play, etc). The game will not continue until the Supervisor makes a ruling.
Protest based on the eligibility of a participant must be filed with the Official working before the conclusion of the contest. At the time of the protest, both captains, the Officials, the Supervisor and the individual(s) in question will meet. The individuals(s) in question must bring his/her CMU MavCard. If the individual is not on the line-up card, has no photo ID, or has a photo ID that is not their own, the game will be declared a default. If the player is on the line-up card, has a valid ID, but no MavCard, the name will be noted so that it can be checked against the official roster on file in the Intramural Office. In this case, the game will continue under protest. If the protest is valid, the team with the offending player will lose by default. If the protest is invalid, the result of the game will stand.

Are there uniform or attire requirements?
|
|
There are no uniform requirements. However, to make it easier on all parties, it would be much easier for your team to wear matching colors. A general rule of thumb is to bring a light color and a dark color, therefore, you can easily switch colors.
There are attire requirements for certain sports. Please check the ruling in the sport you are interested in.
