What is the difference between Intramural Sports and Club Sports?

Intramural Sports consist of structured game play between teams within the University.  Registration is free to students and the level of competition is more recreational.  Club Sports consist of student-run organizations that compete against teams from other Universities.  Registration usually involves some type of fee and the level of participation is more competitive.

How do I register for an Intramural sport or team?

Students can create and register as a team OR register as a free agent, if they do not have a team.  The process for doing so is outlined on the Register page.

Each team will have to fill out a sign-up sheet for each sport that they would like to participate in. You can print a form from the "IM Sports" page of this website or pick up a form in the IM Office. All forms must be turned in no later than the posted deadline to room 3034 of the Petersen Events Center. The offices are located in the Baierl Recreation Center on the second floor (lawn level).

How are individual players placed on a team?
Once an individual has signed-up for a sport, a list of all individuals will be generated and posted to the IM website on the schedule page for each sport. Teams who are willing and interested in inviting individuals to join their team are instructed to contact these individuals and invite them to join their team. Otherwise, on occasion, a team of individuals will be created depending on how many schedule slots are available.

In this case, all individuals who have been assigned to a team will get a phone call or e-mail with details of their schedule and who is on their team including contact information for team mates.

The maximum number of teams accepted for a sport was reached and my team didn’t get in. Is there anything I can do?

Teams that don’t make into the schedule will be added to a waiting list.  Sometimes spots open when other teams drop out.  No other exceptions can be made.
