What sports are being offered and when do they take place?

The sports offered each semester varies. You can find the active sports on the University of Mary Washington home page on imleagues.com. Each event is split into Divisions (ie. Men’s, Women’s, Coed) and you will also see when the registration period opens and closes.

How do I register a team?
|
|
A Captain wishing to form a team should click on the button in the top right corner that says “Create Team” [you will not be able to create a team unless the registration period is open]. Fill in the necessary information and then it will ask you to invite people to be on your team. If your teammates are already registered in IMLeagues then you will be able to invite them that way, if not, you can invite them to sign up and be on your team by entering their email address.

How do I join a team?
|
|
You can join a team by accepting a team captain’s request to be on their team (you will get a notification through your email) or you can request to join a team. The Captain of the team will have to approve you as a teammate and then you will be registered with them.

What is a Free Agent?
|
|
A Free Agent is someone who would like to play in a sport but does not have their own team to join. By signing themselves up as a free agent individuals are able to be recruited by other team captains and then can sign up on their team. All captains are able to view the free agents during the registration period. If there are enough free agents who register Campus Recreation may choose to make a team out of free agents.

How long do I have to join a team?
|
|
You are able to join a team until the join team date, or the date when the “roster additions only” ends (found on the imleauges.com sport pages). For leagues this date is generally about 2 weeks into the league and for weekend events it is usually the day before the tournament is supposed to start.

What are Captain’s Meetings?
|
|
MANDATORY Captain’s meetings are held before the start of our major league events. These events include: Volleyball, Flag Football, Basketball, and Soccer. The meetings usually take place on the Friday before the league begins (specific dates and information will be available closer to the start of the event). Very important information is covered at these meetings and if a representative from your team is not there your team will be charged a regular forfeit.

What are the IM Sport Rules?
|

All of the IM Sport rules can be found under the “IM Sport Rules” link listed under the “reference links” on UMW’s imleagues.com homepage. All captain’s and players are responsible for knowing the rules prior to the start of an event.

What should I do if my team can’t make it to a scheduled game?
|
|
Call the Campus Recreation office at 540-654-1126 as soon as you find out your team cannot make a game. If you call at least 48hrs prior to the game the staff will do their best to reschedule the game (if a reschedule is not possible the game will be counted as a loss but not a forfeit). If you call less than 24hrs before the game it will be counted as one regular forfeit.
