What is the difference between intramural sports and club sports?
Intramural sports programs provide students an opportunity to participate in a variety of competitive and recreational sport activities. You may encounter leagues for men’s, women’s, or mixed (Co-Rec) teams. Most universities offer teams in traditional sports such as basketball, softball, soccer, volleyball, and flag football, as well as nontraditional activities such as ultimate frisbee, badminton, racquetball, and tennis.
Club sports allow students to get together regularly to play a sport they love, though they may not meet as often or for as long as varsity teams. Clubs are managed and run by the participants themselves, including coach selection, travel, fundraising, scheduling, practices, and participant development. Clubs bridge the gap between intramural and intercollegiate athletics by providing competition at specialized levels, participation in tournaments, and opportunities to practice. Although some clubs remain solely recreational, most are highly competitive.

How can I participate in intramural sports if I do not have a team?
Intramural Sports has a free agent program that assists participants with finding a team. Free agents can register for a sport by logging on to IMLeagues and selecting the sport(s) they are interested in playing. Captains looking for extra players will be able to view the free agents and contact them to see if they can play during their game time.

What are sportsmanship ratings? How do they relate to my team?
After each game teams are rated on sportsmanship by the officials on a scale of 1-5 (1=lowest, 5=highest). Sportsmanship ratings are our first tiebreaker for the playoffs. Teams must have an average rating of 3.0 to make the playoffs. Winning teams must receive at least a 3.0 to continue participating in the playoffs.

What happens if my team can't make it to one of the scheduled games?
We don’t reschedule any regular season games. If a team fails to have the required number of participants at a scheduled game they will forfeit that game. If a team forfeits they will receive a loss and a 2.0 sportsmanship rating. If teams know ahead of time that they will not have enough at a scheduled game then they can default that game. That team will still receive the loss, but their sportsmanship rating will not be impacted.
